The Candy Maker’s Daughter by elizabeth JMW

Yay. Canadian writer Elizabeth JMW’s new zine 398#12, The Candy Maker’s Daughter is out now. The story is well brilliant as I was lucky enough to have a sneaky read, and the cover is designed by little ole me.

Buy it here.

Elizabeth JMW, Candy Maker’s Daughter

What is the secret ingredient to the Candy Maker’s most delicious chocolates? Love. But since the death of his wife, his one true love, the Candy Maker has lost the ability to create his most special chocolates. When a foreign king demands the chocolates, the Candy Maker’s Daughter takes it upon herself to go on a journey to find true love and save her father. But will her heart ever find what she is seeking? And will she make it back in time to save her father?

398 is a litzine of fairy-tale-like stories by Elizabeth J. M. W.

398#12 is just one story: The Candy Maker’s Daughter, but it is much longer than previous 398 stories. This zine is 1/2 sized, 44pages and text heavy.

It’s all over for now.

Thank you all who came, and I’m sad about those who couldn’t make it, but it’s OK. I’ll live. And maybe next time, if I ever do it again.

I’ll post highlights later.

But no rest for the wicked. I have to make things tomorrow for Platform 72 for their lovely shop who will be selling my wares.

Busy, busy, busy…..

I’ve been busy painting, but I’ll keep them under wraps until the end of the month where you can see it all live. And yes there will be some cat paintings, but not all will have cats, so get in early if you need cats. Otherwise it’s just me and my head. You have been warned.

And It will all be here, at the Watch House 179 Darling Street, Balmain Sydney Australia.

Opening Night is Friday the 29th of June 6 to 8pm, and the exhibition will be open on Saturday the 30th June and Sunday the 1st of July from 10am to 5pm.

I hoping to get my friend Scott Gibson to do a performance on the Saturday which ties in to some illustrating work I’m doing for a book we’re working on together.

And of course, my friend Jan Blake is presenting new works and reworks of her famous assemblages. Relentless.

Stay tuned for more information and exciting news.

Here’s some pictures keeping me busy.

What now

I had fun at the fair. I was really happy to sell out of my new collaborative Zine, “The Boy Who Owned The Forest” by Elizabeth JMW. Check out her latest Zine here. They even bought one for the MCA as a display of what zines can be. I’m working with other very exciting and strange people on other projects. More on that soon.

I’ll be at Eveleigh Markets on Sunday the 3rd of June and then I’m getting ready for my exhibition at the end of the month. Check out the events page for more information.

The Boy Who Owned The Forest

This will be available on Etsy soon. I just have to send some to Elizabeth to sell herself. It looks much better in real life at the cover is super fancy silver paper.

MCA Zine Fair May 20th

I’ll be at the MCA Zine Fair on Sunday the 20th of May. I’m hoping to have lots of new Zines and prints done by then.

You’ll find it at 140 George Street, The Rocks, Sydney, NSW Australia. On the western side of Circular Quay. It’s on from 11am to 4:30pm.

Buy, make and talk about zines at the fifth annual MCA Zine Fair. With a large array of brilliant zines to buy, expert talks and drop-in workshops to help you make your own zine, there is something for everyone. Zines are publications that come in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes; they are mainly self-published, hand-made, of a limited run and can be on any theme. So save up your money and get in quick before they all disappear.

May and Beyond

I’ll be at the MCA Zine Fair on Sunday the 20th of May. I’m hoping to have lots of new Zines and prints done by then. Well I’m hoping. Plus I’m very excited as I’m working with a couple of talented writers of some wonderful books and Zines. More on that later, but you can check in Secrets which I’ll be updating very soon.

Thank you to all who visited me at the last markets, and all who have ever been. It makes it all worthwhile. The next one is on the 3rd of June, and because I’ll be having the exhibition I won’t be at the July one. Click Here for more information

I have a bit more free time now and am looking to use the time to work on some projects that need finishing. And more painting to be done for the exhibition at the end of June. It will be held at THE WATCH HOUSE in Darling Street Balmain, Sydney. Opening Night 29th June 6-8pm, and open 10am to 5pm Saturday the 30th June and Sunday 1st July. Mark your calendars. It’s Sydney’s premier “I hate art openings” event.
